    Brothers, Families, and Friends:

    It is our sincere honor, on behalf of the Omicron Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Latino Fraternity, to invite all of you to the 7th Annual Latin Jazz. It is our most prominent event of the year and since its inception Latin Jazz has highlighted a cultural, educational, or social aspect that affects us all. This year we want to highlight the Omicron Chapter itself and its accomplishments at New York University. We will be celebrating 10 years since the establishment of the Omicron Chapter. Phi Iota Alpha is a big family, with the Omicron Chapter and Latin Jazz being two prime examples of it. As such, we would like to take this opportunity to reach out to everyone: brothers, friends, and family, to come and join us in celebrating two things that were born out of the desire of the brothers to raise awareness of the Latino community and come together as a family: The Omicron Chapter AND Latin Jazz.

    Save the time, 6:31 PM, and the date of Thursday, November 2, for the 7th Annual Latin Jazz, Celebrating the 10th Anniversary of the Omicron Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Latino Fraternity.     • Q: What is Latin Jazz
      A: Latin Jazz was born out of the wishes of Omicron brothers of Phi Iota Alpha Latino Fraternity to educate the masses and bring culture to the New York University campus. It's an event where students, family, and friends can have a nice evening enjoying some Latino food, music, and hear some highlights about the Latino culture from the brothers of the Omicron Chapter of Phi Iota Alpha Latino Fraternity.

    • Q: How long is the event
      A: 4 hours.
      The event last about 4 hours. Those four hours include seating arragements, introduction and welcoming address, musical set, an intermission to serve the food, followed by another musical set. It also includes a presentation of the designated theme, followed by a musical conclussion to the event.

    • Q: How much is the cover?
      A: FREE!!!
      Admitance to Latin Jazz is completely FREE. It's all about coming together and enjoying a nice evening. Phi Iota Alpha is a big family, and as such Latin Jazz honors that tradition of service, and gratitude by offering this event free of charge. The way we see it, it's about family and friends, your presense is the best and only requirement from our part.

    • Q: Is it only for New York University students, or/and brothers?
      A: No.
      Latin Jazz is open to anybody who would like to attend. You are even encouraged to bring your friends and family with you, but you must bring proper ID.

    • Q: I can't be there at the starting time, is it ok to come a little late?
      A: YES, (but not recommended)
      You may come late to Latin Jazz, we won't deny late entrance. Keep in mind that you may find it difficult to find seating, as most tables and seats are taken within the first 15 to 20 minutes after the doors are opened. Year after year we try our best to accomodate everybody to the best of our abilities, however we can't guarantee reserved seatings, and the best recommendation is to get there on time.

    • Q: What is the appropriate attire for this occasion?
      A: Professional Attire (but not required)
      You are encouraged to come dressed in professional attire, but we want you to come and feel comfortable in doing so. Jeans and sneakers are also allowable if you have no other choice. The most important thing is that you come..

    Getting Tickets to the Event

    Tickets are FREE of charge and are available at the New York University Ticket Central Office.
    The office is located on the 2nd floor of the Kimmel Center, 60 Washington Square South.
    They are available in advanced or on the day of the event. You can only pick up two (2) tickets per person a day. A form of ID is required, we recommend bring your school ID or any other government ID.

    Directions to the Event

    • By Train
      Metro North into Grand Central Station
      Take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train) downtown to Astor Place Station. Go west on Astor Place to Broadway. Walk south on Broadway to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square.

    • Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) and Amtrak into Pennsylvania Station
      Take the 8th avenue subway (A and E trains) downtown to West Fourth Street-Washington Square Station. Walk east on West Fourth Street until you reach Washington Square.

    • PATH Trains from New Jersey
      To Ninth Street Station (Sixth Avenue and Ninth Street), then walk south to West Fourth Street and east to Washington Square.

    • By Subway
      Take the Lexington Avenue subway (No. 6 train) to Astor Place Station. Go west on Astor Place to Broadway. Walk south on Broadway to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square.

      Take the Broadway subway (N, R or W train) to Eighth Street Station. At Broadway walk south to Waverly Place. Walk westward on Waverly Place until you reach Washington Square. * The N runs late at night and weekends. The R does not run late at night.

      Take the Sixth Avenue subway to West Fourth Street-Washington Square Station (A, C, E, B, D, F, or V train). Walk east on West Fourth Street until you reach Washington Square. * The A and C don't run late at night, the E, F and V run from 6 a.m. to midnight, the B runs weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m., and the D runs at night.

      Take the Seventh Avenue subway to Christopher Street-Sheridan Square Station (1, or 2). Walk east on Christopher Street to West Fourth Street. Continue east to Washington Square. * The 1 is rush hour only, and the 2 train runs late at night.

    • By Car
      From the Bronx and Upstate NY
      Take the NY State Thruway, which becomes the Major Deegan Expressway in the Bronx, to the Triborough Bridge (toll). Cross to Manhattan taking the FDR Drive. Follow the FDR Drive south to Houston Street. Continue west on Houston Street past Broadway to La Guardia Place. Turn right (north) and follow La Guardia Place to Washington Square.


      From the Northwest, West, and South including New Jersey
      Take I-95 and/or the New Jersey Turnpike to the Lincoln Tunnel or the Holland Tunnel. If taking the Lincoln tunnel, take the right tube and stay in the right lane, turning right onto Dyer Ave. after exiting the tunnel. Go through three lights, making a left on to 34th St. and move to the right lane. After one block, turn left onto 9th Ave., continuing south until 14th St. Turn left onto 14th St., followed by a right onto 5th Ave., until it ends at Washington Square. If taking the Holland tunnel, there will be a circle after exiting. Take the Canal St. East exit. After a few lights, turn left onto West Broadway. Proceed north until you reach Washington Square.

      From the George Washington Bridge
      Take the Henry Hudson Parkway (turns into the West Side Highway/12th Avenue) south to 23rd Street. Turn left (east) on 23rd Street to Fifth Avenue. Turn right (south) on Fifth Avenue to Washington Square.
      From Brooklyn
      Take the Manhattan Bridge. Off the bridge, take Canal Street west to Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas). Take Sixth Avenue north to West Fourth Street and travel east to Washington Square.

      From Queens
      Take the 59th Street Bridge and turn left (south) on Fifth Avenue. Fifth Avenue ends at the Washington Square campus.

      From Staten Island
      Take the Staten Island Express across the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge crossing into Brooklyn. Take the Belt Parkway west to the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) east. Take the Manhattan Bridge exit, cross over the bridge, and take Canal Street west to Sixth Avenue (also called Avenue of the Americas). Turn right (north) on to Sixth Avenue to West Fourth Street. Turn right (east) and travel to Washington Square.

      From Long Island
      Take the Long Island Expressway (also called the L.I.E. or I-495) west to the Queens-Midtown Tunnel. Drive west on 37th Street to Fifth Avenue. Turn left (south) on Fifth Avenue until it ends at the Washington Square campus.
