Phiota named Board President of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Richmond

New York, New York - February 20, 2018

The Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Richmond recently welcomed Brother Tito Luna (Epsilon Chapter Spring '90) as President of their Board of Directors. Brother Luna is from Epsilon Chapter - State University of New York, Binghamton, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in English Literature and Spanish. A Manhattan native, Brother Luna served the RMHC on their Board of Directors for the past almost four years before being appointed President.

His relationship with RMHC goes far beyond serving on the Board for RMHC, or cooking dinners at the house in Richmond with his family. His sister, who lives in Florida, has a personal experience with the RMHC. Her son, Josef, was born in 2009 with life-threatening conditions. His sister and her family found support at the RMHC house close to the children’s hospital in Orlando. Josef passed away at the age of two, and after learning about the RMHC through his sister, Brother Luna decided to give back further in Richmond to honor Josef’s life. Brother Luna loves RMHC for its diversity, the volunteers and the staff who work to help families during trying times in their child’s treatment. He also serves as a transportation volunteer for the World Pediatric Project, which directly interacts with the RMHC in Richmond.

In 2017, the RMHC of Richmond was able to assist and impact over 13,000 families. One of the goals Brother Luna has as Board President is to look for further ways to help more families and to expand in Richmond - through funding and potential expansion of the house.

Professionally, Brother Luna serves as the Neighborhood Outreach Director for the Division of Community Engagement at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), where he works to foster relationships in the Richmond with the University.

Phi Iota Alpha Congratulates Brother Luna on this accomplishment, and on his selfless service to others and his community.
